Amazing Ants

Amazing Ants:  A place to learn to read and write.

Amazing Ants offer an up to 6 programme which has a balance between a rich, well-resourced learning environment for children to explore, and focused learning which sets up children to learn the necessary skills to be school ready.

We work alongside our local Primary School.

The Jolly Phonics programme is used, which emphasises letter and sound recognition, forming a solid foundation for reading and writing.

Amazing Ants extends on the vision of the importance of literacy in their daily learning, by creating a love of reading.  With experiences such as weekly library trips where the children are involved in story time, choosing books on current interests to be read in the classroom and how to look after books.

Numeracy is learnt through group learning, recognising numbers and their meaning through using objects and aids in activities and repetition.  These are some of the strategies used for teaching numeracy.

Children learn through hands on experiences where they have the opportunity to be creative through arts and crafts, building with blocks, baking and learning about the world around them.  They also learn life skills such as problem solving and working alongside their peers.

Amazing Ants incorporate a positive behaviour programme with a reward system to promote the desired outcome.

Children learn about the wider environment and how to look after the environment by being actively involved which helps shape their future attitudes for the wider world.

Children’s interests are incorporated throughout their learning, creating a love of learning in each child daily.
